Here are a few things to know to help you plan your day and make the most of your time at Plaza Las Americas.
1. Complete variety of stores
There are over 70 stores in Plaza Las Américas that sell a wide variety of items.
Plaza Las Américas has a traditional mall setup, with several large anchor department stores, including Sanborn’s, Sears, and Liverpool.
There are tons of different clothing stores. In addition to regional brands, you will find several familiar international clothing brands here.
With such a large variety of clothing stores, you can find everything from casual to formal wear and stores that work with all budgets.
Several different stores sell athletic wear, sporting goods, and running shoes.
The mall has several shoe stores, with plenty of options for adults and children, and shops with all kinds of accessories, purses, and jewelry.
If fashion is not your thing, you can shop at different gift stores, bookstores, and gadget shops.
There is even a pet store and plenty of stores that sell electronics.
In addition to shopping, there are travel agencies and banks.
2. Home to international and local brands
If you are into fashion, you will have fun shopping at a mix of well-known, international stores, and new-to-you regional stores.
You will find well-known international stores such as Bershka, Zara, Old Navy, and H&M, as well as many smaller, regional stores.

3. Most stores don’t open until 11:00 am
Officially, Plaza Las Americas is open from 10:00 am to 10:00 pm, but many stores do not open until 11:00 am.
So, you can get into the shopping center and start walking around at 10:00, but you may have to wait an hour before the stores you want to visit open up.
4. Biggest food court & restaurant options
Make sure to either go hungry or shop enough to work up an appetite when you visit Plaza Las Americas.
On the second level, there is a huge food court. This is a great place to eat if everyone you are shopping with is in the mood for different food.
The food court has the internationally known fast food options of KFC and McDonald’s, as well as tacos, Chinese food, Ramen, Argentinian food, pasta, and pizza. The food court is clean, comfortable, and has affordable options.
If you prefer going to a sit-down restaurant, there are several great options for that too. You can have sushi, Italian food, or pizza.
There are bar/grill options that serve alcohol and snack food, or you can find lighter options that specialize in salads and sandwiches. You will find a mix of local restaurants and international franchises.
If you are not hungry enough for a meal, you can get a coffee or ice cream and different desserts.

Going to the movies is a popular pastime for Mexican families, and compared to many places, it is more affordable in Mexico.
Cinepolis VIP takes the normal movie theatre experience and makes it luxurious. The chairs are comfortable, leather recliners, and you have a server who will bring you anything you want to order with the press of a button!
If you get there early you can even enjoy a cocktail while you wait for your movie to start!
Most movies will be shown in their original language with Spanish subtitles, except movies for small children, which are often dubbed into Spanish.

Plaza Las Americas is popular all year round, but it is especially great for Christmas shopping.

It’s not just that Plaza Las Americas is a practical place to do your holiday shopping- it’s also fun! It has a festive atmosphere with great music and decorations around Christmas.

Plaza Las Americas is a well-known shopping center in Cancun, and there are several different ways to get there from your hotel.

If you are already downtown, you might be able to walk to Plaza Las Americas. If you took a bus or taxi downtown to go to Walmart, you could walk to Plaza Las Americas from there.
👉🏼 Take a Bus
If you are staying in the hotel zone, you can catch the R1 or R2 bus to downtown Cancun.
Neither of these buses directly passes Plaza Las Americas. You will want to get off at the first stop downtown, and then it is a 10-15-minute walk to Plaza Las Américas. You could also get off at the first bus stop and catch a cheap taxi to the shopping center.

All taxi drivers in Cancun know where Plaza Las Americas is.
You can flag a taxi from anywhere in the hotel zone to get there, just make sure you agree on a price with the driver before getting into the taxi.
Cancun does have Uber, although there aren’t always a lot of drivers available.

If you already have a rental car, you can easily drive it to Plaza Las Americas.
There is plenty of parking there, and it only costs a few pesos an hour.

Is Plaza Las Americas Worth Visiting? My Honest Take
If you read Plaza Las Americas Cancun reviews, you will see it has a 4.1 rating over 1600 reviews on TripAdvisor, which is not bad.
It was my go-to place for after-work strolling or lunch break, when I was living and working in Cancun, as my office was a 10-minute walk from there.
So my honest verdict is that Plaza Las Americas is the best regular mall in Cancun, and that is exactly what it is: a regular mall. Come for real shopping needs (clothes you forgot, a phone charger, the pharmacy), the VIP cinema, or a rainy afternoon with kids. Do not come expecting a tourist attraction: there are no souvenirs worth the trip (Mercado 28 wins that) and no views. Prices are local prices, which is the point: this is where Cancun actually shops, and it is noticeably cheaper than anything in the Hotel Zone.
